Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon sets new world record in the 5000m at the Paris Diamond League athletics meet

Religion Kipyegon set a world report within the 5000m this morning, every week after changing into the quickest lady ever over 1500m.

The 2-time Olympic and world 1500m champion set the world report within the ladies’s 5000m in simply her third elite race over the space when she gained on the Diamond League meet in Paris in 14 minutes, 5.20 seconds.

Final week on the Golden Gala meet in Florence, the 29-year-old Kenyan runner lowered the world report within the 1500m to three minutes, 49.11 seconds, taking virtually a second off the earlier mark of three:50.07 set by Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia in 2015.

“I felt so quick in the course of the race, so assured,” Girma mentioned.

“The world report just isn’t a shock; it was my plan to beat it tonight in Paris. It is the results of my full willpower.”
