Police were called to the domestic disturbance in a building in the 7600-block of 15th Street shortly before 9:25 p.m. on Feb. 27.
Officers were told the man had access to weapons. He was located in a unit but didn’t comply with demands to come out. Negotiations continued for two hours before the man tried to climb down from the third storey but fell.
A Taser and police dog were deployed and the man was taken into custody.
“The chief civilian director (of the IIO) has reviewed the evidence — including statements from the affected person and civilian witnesses, medical information and police records — and determined that the injuries the man sustained do not meet the threshold of serious harm, as defined by the Police Act,” said the IIO in a statement.
