IN THE coming phase of the state-sponsored ‘Mission Shakti programme’, the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government is gearing up to equip young women with self-defence skills.
This initiative aims at empowering them so that they can take full advantage of their rights and government initiatives when necessary, said a release issued on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives to various departments, emphasising the need for the development of self-defence proficiency among girls, but also raising their awareness and knowledge of laws related to women’s safety.
The next phase of Mission Shakti will begin in Shardiya Navratri in Uttar Pradesh.
The government has decided to hold self-defence training workshops will be organised for girls living in ‘Balika Grah under the Durga Shakti Mega Safety workshop which will be run by the women and child development department. Training and orientation of local and internal complaint committees formed under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013 will also be conduced in all districts.
