She said not only is it the biggest mistake you could make but a simple DIY could be the solution.

“This is the biggest decorating mistake that you’re doing that’s making your house look tacky,” she said.

She explained that having lots of money to spend on decor and furniture won’t always be the answer to everything.

“It’s buying expensive decor that will be outdated soon anyways,” she explained.

“This is why your home looks tacky when decorating,” she added.

The expert encouraged people to stop falling for trends.

Instead, she recommended making decor yourself that will last longer.

“Instead, starting making DIY projects that will look beautiful for years,” she said.
