The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) dropped thousands of flyers over Gaza City on October 14, calling on residents to leave their homes in light of military action. Video posted by IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari shows the flyers floating over Gaza, with a caption reading “Distribution of leaflets for the evacuation of the northern Gaza Strip”. Hagari said the call was distributed through a variety of different means, in order to “try and minimize the harm to the uninvolved.” The IDF described Gaza as a battlefield and prompted residents to evacuate. “For your safety and security: You must not return to your home until further notice from the Israel Defence Forces” the flyer read, according to a machine translation.
