The Hobart Hurricanes have won for the first time this season in the WBBL with a rain-shortened seven-wicket triumph over the Adelaide Strikers.
Light rain fell in Brisbane and delayed the start of the match at Allan Border Field which was subsequently reduced to eight overs each.
The Hurricanes elected to field and they were able to restrict the Strikers to 1-74 in eight overs, despite substantial knocks by Karla Woolvardt (35 not out) and Katie Mack (32).
Their tally was overhauled in seven overs by the Hurricanes, who finished on 3-76 with captain Elyse Villani, unbeaten on 39 off 24 balls, the player of the match.
She received strong early support from fellow opener Lizelle Lee (21).
The key over in the run chase was the fifth, in which Villani plundered three boundaries from the bowling of Anesu Mushangwe (0-25).
The Hurricanes took 15 runs from the over and were never going to lose from there.
The win got the Hurricanes off the bottom of the WBBL ladder, as well as handing the Strikers their second loss of the season.
