Highway 99 closed in both directions in Surrey due to police incident

A police incident at a park in Surrey has closed Highway 99 in both directions on Tuesday night.

At around 9:45 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to an incident at Mud Bay Park, which is next to the highway at Boundary Bay and is located at 13030 48th Avenue.

It is unclear what the incident is.

Drivers are advised to use the exits for Highway 91 or King George Boulevard before arriving in the area to avoid congestion.

There is no estimated time for the reopening of the highway.

Police are asking the public to call 604-599-0502 if you were in the area or have any information, including dash cam footage.
