A helicopter carrying “multiple people” has crashed east of Prince George.

RCMP says it received reports of a helicopter crash near Purden Ski Hill, a ski resort off Highway 16, about 60 kilometres east of Prince George, at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

“Our initial information indicates there were multiple people on board the aircraft,” said Prince George RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Jennifer Cooper. “The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.”

Police are asking motorists driving past the area to slow down, obey flaggers, and give emergency crews space to work.
