Heavy rain lashed parts of Tamil Nadu including the Thoothukudi district on Friday, leading to waterlogging in several areas, with commuters facing difficulties. Light showers were also reported in other parts of the state on Thursday.
The downpour, triggered by a dip in the mid-upper level trough, brought isolated thunderstorms in the Thoothukudi district.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of Kerala on Friday.
Besides, the Met Department forecast hot and humid weather in Rayalaseema and Kerala for the next five days, while northern parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are expected to experience similar conditions for the next two days.
