It looks like rain originally in the forecast for Metro Vancouver on Oct. 31 will come again another day instead.

Weather projections earlier in the week showed a cool, dry spell was going to end around Halloween day, potentially spoiling the fun for Lower Mainland trick-or-treaters.

Now it appears dry conditions will linger until the end of October, with rain likely in the first few days of November instead.

Environment Canada predicts increasing cloud in Vancouver on Tuesday, with a daytime high of 9ºC. Similar conditions are expected across other Metro municipalities, though with somewhat milder temperatures in some areas.

There is, however, a 20 to 30 per cent chance of rain heading into Tuesday evening, so you might want to add an umbrella to that costume just in case. A warm coat is also a good idea with overnight lows around 4ºC.

Police across the region are also offering a number of tips to keep everyone safe on Halloween night, including:

• Bring a flashlight and wear reflective clothing.

• Choose a route with well-lit streets, ideally with sidewalks and crosswalks.

• Avoid wearing a mask that could obstruct vision.

• Leave fake weapons at home.

• Don’t eat any treats until they’ve been inspected by an adult.

Happy Halloween!
