Monty, 68 revealed that at the end of October his “lovely dog” Nellie finally ended her “struggle with the cancer”.
The dog had been diagnosed with the deadly disease back in June.
Monty revealed that she now rests in the coppice, alongside his beloved pup Nigel and the other six dogs who were a cherished part of his life for 32 years.
Monty paid a sweet tribute to Nell, and dubbed her the “prettiest”, “sweetest”, and “most loved of dogs”.
The Gardeners’ World host, said: “Quite naughty – she was an arch thief who could melt your heart by gazing soulfully at you having nicked and eaten a freshly baked birthday cake left briefly to cool…
“But had not a bad bone in her body. We miss her terribly but celebrate the 8 years that she enriched our lives.”
Recently, Gardeners World paid a heart-warming tribute to Nell by airing a touching clip of her best moments on the popular BBC show.
The show’s official X/Twitter account, tweeted: “Bye-bye Nellie. We shall miss you x x.”
Fans were left sobbing at the touching tribute.
