GAC Group on Monday began delivering the second model under its premium Hyper electric vehicle lineup, the Hyper GT, which the Chinese automaker said will start at RMB 219,900 ($30,474), nearly 30% lower than its previous setting of RMB 300,000. The electric coupe has a driving range of 710 kilometers (441 miles) and can travel another 450 km on a 15-minute charge. It features an in-car system with a 14.6-inch display powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA8155 chipset. The release comes after rival Xpeng priced its G6 crossover from just RMB 209,900 last week, highlighting the ongoing competition in the world’s biggest car market where dozens of companies have been forced to cut prices or launch cheaper models to defend their market shares.
