Fox Information has notified Tucker Carlson’s authorized group the previous prime-time host violated his contract with the community when he launched his personal Twitter present, Axios experiences, citing a duplicate of a letter obtained by the information web site.
Carlson launched the primary episode of his new present on Twitter on Tuesday, weeks after being taken off the air by Fox following a dangerous defamation lawsuit over false claims of election fraud.
Fox Information basic counsel Bernard Gugar despatched a letter to Carlson’s authorized group saying Carlson “is in breach” of his contract settlement after he posted a clip of his new present on Twitter on Tuesday night, in line with Axios.
Reuters couldn’t instantly attain Carlson’s authorized group for remark.
His lawyer advised Axios any authorized motion by Fox would violate his First Modification rights to free speech assured by the US Structure.
“Fox defends its very existence on freedom of speech grounds,” Carlson’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, mentioned in an announcement cited by Axios.
“Now they need to take Tucker Carlson’s proper to talk freely away from him as a result of he took to social media to share his ideas on present occasions.”
Fox Information didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
The letter quoted by Axios refers to Carlson’s contract, and mentioned its former prime time star was “prohibited from rendering companies of any kind by any means, whether or not ‘over the web through streaming or comparable distribution, or different digital distribution whether or not now recognized or hereafter devised’.”
