Former Timberwolves guard calls Karl-Anthony Towns ‘Wemby before Wemby’

Former NBA guard Jeff Teague has become an incredible listen when he makes the podcast rounds. The ex-Minnesota Timberwolves guard seems to always have a great story he’s more than willing to tell and that stood true once again when the topic of Karl-Anthony Towns came up on the “Club 520 Podcast.”

Teague started by saying that Towns is “one of the coldest dudes I’ve ever seen play basketball,” and that he was in “disbelief” the first time he played open gym with him. Then came a bit of a bombshell as Teague stated that Towns was “Wemby before Wemby,” obviously referencing San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama.

Teague went on to say that people need to put “more respect on his basketball game” and that he’s “a one-of-a-kind player.”

It was an eye-opening comment, to say the least. But Towns has unquestionably showcased a skill set that was one of the most unique in the league from the moment he was drafted. His ability to score from anywhere on the floor, rebound, knock down threes, etc. is exceptional and he’s also improved as a passer as well, coming off a 2022-23 NBA season in which he averaged a career-best 4.8 assists per game.
