Flood watch issued for parts of B.C. already dealing with wildfires

The B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued flood watches for a number of components of B.C. together with the northeast Peace area, which is already coping with out-of-control wildfires.

A flood watch was issued Sunday for rivers and tributaries round Fort St. John, Taylor, Chetwynd, Moberly Lake, Pine Cross, Hudson’s Hope and Dawson Creek.

The river forecast centre says unseasonably sizzling climate over the previous few weeks has led to heavy snowfall melts, which implies the area is susceptible to vital flooding as water ranges rise.

It’s evaluating the present circumstances to these of 2011 and 2016, when flooding compelled individuals from their properties, stranded whole communities and ripped aside roads that took months to completely restore.

Along with the Peace area, the B.C. River Forecast Centre has issued flood watches for the Boundary, Kootenays and Columbia areas within the southeast, the Shuswap, Thompson, Bonaparte and Okanagan areas within the southern Inside and for the higher and center Fraser River round Prince George and Quesnel.

A number of thunderstorm watches are in impact with heavy rain forecast via Tuesday by Surroundings Canada.

Risks to the general public
