One person suffered minor injuries and workers were evacuated after an explosion Thursday morning at the Uniboard Canada factory in the municipality of Sayabec, in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
The police and firefighters were called to the particle board manufacturing plant, located on Route Pouliot, around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

“On the spot, there was the evacuation of about 50 people. A person was slightly injured and transported to the hospital centre,” said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Nancy Fournier.
At the end of the morning, firefighters were still trying to put out the blaze.
