Kruger Station, a beloved top attraction within the Kruger National Park, has a rich history and captivating stories. Home to the legendary steam locomotive No. 3638, affectionately known as ‘Skukuza,’ it showcases the last train that travelled through the park.
Step back in time as you discover these meticulously refurbished carriages. Of particular interest is the lounge carriage, numbered 7, which has a fascinating journey. Initially serving as a suburban coach in 1942, it was later transformed into a funeral coach, transporting the remains of notable figures. In 1950, it carried the last remains of General J. C. Smuts, and in 1967, it played a vital role in the State Funeral of the Hon. J. G. Strydom.
