EastEnders spoilers: Cindy Beale’s surprising reaction to killer Bobby | Soaps

The moment Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) came face to face with her daughter’s killer in EastEnders was always going to be a tense one, but we were left surprised by how well she handled it, given her fiery nature.

Back in 2014, Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) accidentally murdered his older sister Lucy Beale, which sent shockwaves through the family.

It was revealed this week that Lucy’s murder was what drove Cindy away from her second family, The Knights, as she returned to London following her daughter’s shock death.

This move broke her witness protection cover, and meant that she was unable to return to her family in Spain in case it put them in danger.

Essentially, Bobby’s actions had far-reaching consequences for Cindy.

In tonight’s (August 31) episode, Cindy was already reeling after finding daughter Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) unconscious following an overdose, so we were expecting Bobby’s arrival to cause fireworks.

However, we were left pleasantly surprised when Ian (Adam Woodyatt) introduced his killer son, and Cindy remained level-headed, politely saying that it was nice to meet him.

When actress Michelle Collins told us that Cindy has ‘more empathy than she had before’, she wasn’t kidding. We were half expecting Cindy to launch at Bobby the moment she saw him, so this character growth caught us off guard in the best way.

However, it wasn’t long before her true feelings came to light, thankfully after Bobby was out of earshot.

She angrily asked Ian why he had let Bobby come to the hospital, knowing how she would feel.

Ian insisted that he thought she’d be fine with it (has he met Cindy Beale?), though it was clear that he was wrong.

Cindy admitted that seeing Bobby in the flesh made her blood run cold, which seemed to take Ian by surprise.

Will Cindy ever be able to accept Bobby, or will she turn to her old ways and try to get rid of him for good?
