A Dublin man has been charged with burgling a business premises in the west of the city two days in a row.
Phillip Grendon (48) appeared in Blanchardstown District Court today charged over the alleged incidents last weekend.
Judge David McHugh remanded him in custody, with a bail application to be made on a later date.
Mr Grendon, of Spiddal Park, Ballyfermot, is charged with burglary at a motor parts distributor at Knockmitten Business Park, Clondalkin on January 20 and 21.
The charges are under Section 12 of the Theft and Fraud Offences Act.
Garda Kevin Coller told the court he arrested the accused yesterday and brought him to Clondalkin station, where he was charged at 11.43pm and made no reply after caution.
Judge McHugh adjourned the case to Cloverhill District Court on January 30, when a bail application will be made.
Defence barrister Ciaran MacLoughlin applied for free legal aid, but Gda Coller said he would be objecting, saying the accused was “on the dole” but renting out his home by subletting it and “gaining an income from that.”
He said there were three people renting in Mr Grendon’s home.
Judge McHugh said the issue of legal aid could be further considered on the next court date.
Mr Grendon has not yet indicated how he intends to plead to the charges and was not required to address the court during the brief hearing.
