Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume says the Yes campaign is ‘dishonest’ by declaring the Voice to Parliament is the only way forward for the recognition of Indigenous people.
“Why is this the only way we can listen to people?” Ms Hume said.
One of the major criticisms of the Voice to Parliament from the No campaign is its permanent enshrining into the constitution, which has been branded as risky and uncertain.
“Why is it that a constitutional change that is as radical as the Voice proposal is the only way to listen to people?”
“Don’t you feel that maybe you have sacrificed the opportunity for constitutional recognition by attaching the Voice to that?”
