The Dubai Digital Authority has warned of phone hacking operations via the WhatsApp application, as fraudsters attempt to seize data and request bank card information.
The authority said in its account on the “X” platform: “Attempts to hack phones have increased in recent hours, as fraudsters have resorted to sending messages via the WhatsApp application from the names of people the recipient knows, asking him to click on a link to enter a group, and through this they attempt to seize data from the recipient.” Through the user’s WhatsApp account, fraudsters may resort to other scenarios, such as requesting bank card information using numbers and names known to the recipient, so caution must be taken.”
