Hours before the Lok Sabha election campaign ended in Delhi on Thursday, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is one of the BJP’s star campaigners in Delhi, met a select group of traders, businessmen, corporate professionals and senior citizens as part of an outreach programme under the party’s Vishesh Sampark Abhiyan. The post-lunch meeting was held in a plush restaurant in Connaught Place, which is part of the New Delhi constituency. The interaction, it is learnt, revolved around the government’s policies on trade, economy and taxation among other issues.
Arbitration Push
AS PART of the global push for Indian arbitration, Supreme Court Justice Hima Kohli, former SC judge Nageswara Rao, Attorney General R Venkataramani and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will be in Dubai next week as members of the Indian delegation for the India-UAE Business Forum. Incidentally, both Justices Kohli and Rao are in the Board of Trustees of the Hyderabad-based International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC), which in February had hosted a Middle East and North Africa (MENA)-specific conference on arbitration. For India, London and Singapore have been top global choices for arbitration. However, in the past few years there has been a considerable push for encouraging domestic arbitration and also promoting India as an attractive global arbitration hub.
