Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is prepared to sink to a whole new low in Coronation Street as she desperately tries to keep her career intact.
Bethany left Weatherfield a few years ago to begin a new job as a journalist. Since her return, Bethany has chatted about her work, but hasn’t exactly delved into detail about the subjects she writes about.
This week, Daniel (Rob Mallard) found Bethany working on an article in the cafe. Again, she was shady and didn’t really reveal the ins and outs of the piece, but was later left disapponted when her editor confirmed it wasn’t being commissioned.
Tonight (January 31), Bethany checked her bank balance and it was clear she was struggling. She then met up with Suki, a journalist who works at the Gazette, and asked her about some work.
Suki confirmed that she couldn’t give Bethany a job, but she might have luck contacting Chit Chat Magazine.

Bethany was certain she didn’t want to work for a gossip mag but later, with lack of income at the forefront of her mind, she soon had an idea.
At the pub, as Bethany approached the bar to order drinks, she started chatting to Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) about Daisy’s (Charlotte Jordan) dislike for her.
When Beth (Lisa George) arrived, she joined in on the conversation about Daisy and Ryan (Ryan Prescott) and when ‘catfishing’ was mentioned, Bethany’s ears pricked up.
Jenny was reluctant to go into detail about everything Daisy and Ryan went through, but that wasn’t an issue for Bethany.
That evening, she called Suki and confirmed she has a story for Chit Chat Magazine after all.
While Bethany doesn’t know a great deal, all it’ll take is for her to poke a few people for information, giving her the chance to sell someone’s emotional and traumatic real-life story without their permission.
