Special Millets Thali is being prepared for the foreign dignitaries to attend the G20 summit in Delhi, India.

The preparations for the G20 summit are fast-tracked. The summit will be held in Delhi between September 9 to 10 under the chairmanship of India. Five-star hotels have been booked in Delhi for the summit and special preparations are being made to give foreign guests a taste of Indian food.

India is celebrating the year 2023 as Millets Year. Hence, a special ‘Millets Thali’ has been prepared for all the leaders and foreign delegates including US President Joe Biden. Millets have been named ‘Shrianna’ by the Modi government. Reports suggest that only vegetarian food will be served to the guests attending the G-20 event in India.

More than 100 dishes of indigenous foreign will be served. Over 100 Indian and foreign dishes will be served at the G20 summit. The most special dish will be Millets Thali.

What is Millets Thali?

Gagandeep, chief chef of Rosette Fight Star Hotel told NDTV, “The millets thali will be made without the use of wheat and rice. Five types of millet will be used to make lentils. The thali also includes sweets made from millet. Ragi (Nachni) Barfi is being prepared from it, which looks just as soft as Mawa ki Barfi.”

Apart from Millets Thali, foreign guests will also be served dishes that identify different states. For example, Bihar’s Litti-Chokha, Rajasthani Dal Baati Churma, Punjabi Tadka, South India’s Masala Dosa, Uttapam and Idli, Bengali Rasgulla, Jalebi, many special dishes and sweets have been included in the menu. Among the desi street food, foreign guests will also get to taste Golgappa, Dahi Bhalla, Samosas and spicy chaat.

Approximately, a half thousand people in the media delegation will also attend the event. Arrangements for food have been made for all of them at Pragati Maidan.  ITC has been given the responsibility of preparing dishes for all foreign guests, including the US President.

This is the first time since the G-20 summit-level meeting started in 2008, that India has got the opportunity to chair it. In view of this, many restrictions will remain in force in Delhi from 8 to 10 September. Holidays have been declared in schools and colleges. Markets and malls will remain closed. All private offices and government offices will also remain closed.
