Vancouver’s Ghost Train will continue to gather cobwebs for now.
The Vancouver park board announced Wednesday that the popular holiday train in Stanley Park still isn’t ready to roll down the tracks.

For a year, the train has undergone repairs. Staff say the vintage train equipment, some of which is more than 60 years old, requires specialized parts that are challenging to obtain.

However, staff said Wednesday they now have all the parts but they still need to test the system to ensure it is safe, something that won’t be done in time for Halloween.
Last fall, Technical Safety B.C. inspected the track, rolling stock and surroundings and identified several issues with the attraction. These include corrosion and damage to both track lines and cars, overgrown vegetation disrupting sight lines and decaying infrastructure.
Park board staff say the goal is to complete the work in November and seek approval from Technical Safety B.C.
No word yet on whether this means it will be running for the winter holiday season.
