Chris Visser says children are not only welcome at his magic show but encouraged. Cooking With Igor was created as a family show, although he has played it exclusively for adults at fringe festivals across Canada when he finds himself in a late-night time slot. On Saturday, Visser’s show is in the afternoon so he’s hoping for an eclectic crowd of magic enthusiasts of all ages.

Visser says Igor, a Swedish chef, is a character he created to goof off with his children, and that his fringe audiences become his children, so be prepared to release your inner child.
The magic in the show includes everything from closeup card tricks and doves appearing from nowhere to escape magic. It may not be Visser who is challenged to escape from a straight jacket so unruly spectators of all ages beware.
Visser says the most important escape that Cooking With Igor offers is a break from the real world for 60 minutes of fun and wonderment. Though Visser is a Calgary magician and illusionist, this is his first time at the Calgary Fringe.
Cooking with Igor plays at Festival Hall on Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
