BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. A new era began for
the Azerbaijani press after Azerbaijan’s gaining independence,
Chairman of the Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan Ismat Sattarov
said at the “Media in the era of Global Transformations: Continuity
of Traditions, Principles of Journalism and Public Interests”
conference, Trend
reports.

“This period of our media is associated with the name of
national leader Heydar Aliyev. President of the Republic of
Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who has successfully continued the policy
of great leader Heydar Aliyev, today pays special attention to the
development of the media,” Sattarov noted. “It’s thanks to the
attention of President Ilham Aliyev that media support has become
systematic, and this is the factor underlying all the reforms
carried out in the media sphere: serving the state and statehood,
achieving media development.”

“Today, journalists celebrating their professional holiday at
work provide society with information and play an important role in
conveying Azerbaijani realities to the whole world. In an era of
rapid development of information and communication technologies,
media workers have a much greater responsibility,” he pointed
out.

“Countering global threats in a globalizing world, using all the
opportunities provided by technological development, voicing
Azerbaijani realities in the world. Our media representatives treat
this mission with great responsibility and cope with it with
honor,” the official added.

The “Media in the Era of Global Transformations: Continuity of
Traditions, Principles of Journalism and Public Interests”
conference dedicated to the 148th anniversary of the National Press
is being held in Baku with the joint organization of the Media
Development Agency, the Audiovisual Council and the Press Council
of Azerbaijan.
