Alberta RCMP are investigating after a fire was intentionally set at a Fort McMurray business on Sunday.
Wood Buffalo RCMP and Fort McMurray fire services were called to a business fire on Signal Road at around 7:26 a.m. Sunday, said a news release. Investigators determined the fire had been intentionally set.

Wood Buffalo general investigation section, with help from Wood Buffalo forensic identification services continue to investigate and ask any witnesses that may have been in the area prior to the fire, or have dashcam or surveillance footage of the 700 block of Signal Road, between the hours of 6:35 a.m. and 7:15 a.m., on the day of the fire to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040.

Mounties said, they have responded to a number of suspicious fires set at business in Fort McMurray over the past year. The general investigation section continues to look for information in arsons that were reported on Oct.. 30 and 31, 2022, and July 6 at 145 Eagle Ridge Gate.
A 45-year-old man, from Fort McMurray was arrested on Aug. 4, in relation to a previous arson at 145 Eagle Ridge Boulevard on June 23. He was released from custody on an undertaking and is facing a number of criminal charges including, arson and break and enter.
The man, who cannot be named until an information is sworn, is set to appear in the Alberta court of justice in Fort McMurray on Aug. 30.
