There’s rules and then there’s this.
An American woman turned up to an Airbnb and was left shocked to find the entire place littered with printed notes of what she could and could not do.
Becky, from Texas, was looking forward to a getaway with her family and a few friends, but instead was left feeling like she couldn’t relax or full enjoy herself due to the never-ending list of rules scattered throughout the property.

Notes everywhere
She shared a TikTok showing all the notes left in various spots including the kitchen, bedroom and lounge with warnings not to touch or use certain things.
“Y’all I don’t get it. We stayed at an airbnb house with another family over the weekend,” she began the caption.
“The rules displayed all over the house just killed me. It seemed like every room and every surface had a note.
“It almost felt like it wasn’t a vacation with So. Many. Rules.”
Most of the rules warned renters against touching fragile property, with one note advising to use a placemat on an old dining table belonging to the owner’s grandmother.
“This was our grandmother’s table please be kind to it and use a placemat,” the passive-agressive note in captial letters read.
“Antique and fragile,” another note read on a glass cabinet. “Please do not attempt to open or pull on knobs.”
One note cautioned guests not to touch or move a supposedly 10,000-year-old room divider “for any reason”.
“I will break if you look at me the wrong way,” the warning note continued.

A few threats too
Meanwhile, all the bedrooms in the property had a large warning stuck above the beds claiming jumping was not allowed, and that “any breakage of beds will be immediately passed to renters”.
While some notes were reasonable, such as notifying renters that the microwave was automatic, or asking not to clean marble countertops with abrasives, others made Becky question why the property was rented out at all.
“Is there a cap on how many rules can be displayed at Airbnbs?” she asked viewers.
“I feel like the microwave one is the only one that’s okay,” one person responded.
Many were equally baffled as to why the owner bothered to list it.
“Why the hell do they have so many personal or sentimental items in a space that is rented out? “ one person asked.
“Why put expensive/antique stuff in a short term rental property if you’re this protective,” another asked,
A third said: “Sounds like this stuff should not be in an Airbnb,” a second person wrote, while a third joked: “I think they are in the wrong business. Maybe they meant to open a museum,” another joked.
