Police are warning owners of short term rental properties to call them if they find drugs left behind by tenants after a monthslong investigation in Grande Prairie.
Mounties in Grande Prairie seized what they believe to be 3,154 grams of methamphetamine, 1,598 grams of cocaine and 948 g of fentanyl, plus 87 cartons of illegal cigarettes, according to a Thursday news release.

“It was apparent during this investigation that the individuals were utilizing short term rentals,” the release read. “Sgt. Eldon Chillog encourages all owners and cleaners of these properties to contact police if they come across unknown substances including powders or pills left behind by tenants.
“Proper personal protection such as masks, gloves and safety glasses are to be used when cleaning the units if drugs are suspected on surfaces.”
Three Edmontonians and one Calgary resident were arrested.
Hananluiza Alshawabkeh, 25, Faisal Huoseh, 25 and Kaitlin Mulek of Edmonton and John Medina of Calgary were charged with trafficking a controlled substance. They were released and are to appear in court in Grande Prairie in late July and early August.
Warrants have been issued for 53-year-old Elwood Fraser of Grande Prairie.
“The Municipal Drug Unit makes enforcement of those supplying fentanyl to the city of Grande Prairie a priority,” Sgt. Chillog said in the release.
