Australia’s Cricket World Cup team has suffered a major blow days out from a crunch clash against England, with all rounder Mitch Marsh flying home for personal reasons.

Marsh will fly home to Perth immediately, with no clear indication that he will return.

The departure of Marsh sees Australia suddenly struggling for options, following Glenn Maxwell being ruled out of Saturday’s match against England with concussion following a golf cart accident.

Cricket Australia released a statement saying that “a timeline for his [Marsh’s] return to the squad is to be confirmed.”

Australia currently sits third in the World Cup standings with four wins and two defeats from their six matches.
