Day seven of the Olympics has brought further medals for Team GB in trampolining, rowing, diving and equestrian to continue Great Britain’s excellent start to Paris 2024.
Emily Craig and Imogen Grant won rowing gold with a dominant performance in the women’s double sculls, moments after Oliver Wynne-Griffith and Thomas George claimed silver in the men’s pair, before Bryony Page – who had won silver and bronze at the previous two Games – finally completed her Olympic set by bouncing to an emotional gold.
Jack Laugher and Anthony Harding successfully made it four medals out of four in the diving for Team GB, while Scott Brash, Ben Maher and Harry Charles secured a surprise equestrian gold in the team showjumping to continue a medal-laden day.
On the opening morning of the athletics, meanwhile, track stars Dina Asher-Smith and team captain Josh Kerr safely made it through their heats. Later, look out for France’s Olympic superstars, too, as Judo king Teddy Riner aims for gold, and Leon Marchand can win a fourth swimming gold medal with Ben Proud, Duncan Scott and Tom Dean also in action at La Defense Arena.
An emotional Thursday night saw Andy Murray finally walk away from tennis following his doubles defeat alongside Dan Evans, while Simone Biles added a glorious sixth gold medal to her collection in the individual all-around.

Olympics 2024: Judo legend Teddy Riner thrills French fans
Good afternoon from the Grand Palais Ephemere, where my eardrums are in peril. Teddy Riner’s semi-final win just set off the loudest noise I’ve heard so far at these Olympics, as 9,000 giddy French fans lost their minds watching the judo legend – a 6ft 8in titan of this sport – quickly kill off the contest. Olympic volunteers filled the aisles and the gangways with their phones out, trying to snatch a look. He will be back shortly for the final, which is presumably only going to be louder.

Angela Carini ‘wants to apologise’ to Imane Khelif for aftermath of controversial Olympic boxing bout
Carini abandoned the last-16 contest after just 46 seconds, when Khelif landed the first significant punch of the fight. After Khelif’s hand was raised to signal her victory, Carini dropped to her knees in tears and appeared to reject her opponent’s attempts to hug her, while also not shaking her hand.

Olympics 2024: Badminton – Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong win mixed doubles gold
A truly dominant performace from China’s Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong in the final of the badminton mixed doubles, the pair bitterly disappointed to come away with only a silver in Tokyo and righting the ledger this time around. 21-9, 21-11 the scores in the two games required, and if anything they don’t reflect Zheng and Huang’s superiority over South Korea’s Kim Wonho and Jeong Naeun.
41 minutes is all it took Zheng/Huang to sew it up.

Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen ignite epic rivalry ahead of Olympics ‘race for the ages’
The Olympics before the athletics begins is a little like a feast without its main course: the abundance of choice is tantalising at first, but when the centrepiece is introduced it can be difficult to look anywhere else.
And while the Stade de France and its brand new purple track will host the blockbuster men’s and women’s 100m finals over the weekend, it’s another event that has been dubbed a “race for the ages” by World Athletics president Seb Coe. The clash of reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Great Britain’s current world champion Josh Kerr in the final of the men’s 1500m is one of the most highly anticipated of Paris 2024. The opening session of the athletics on Friday morning offered a tantalising glimpse at what lies ahead.

Olympics 2024: Trampolining – Bryony Page bounces back to complete the set
No-one does bouncing back quite like Great Britain’s first-ever Olympic trampolining champion.
And all those ups and downs were made worthwhile inside the Arena Bercy as she completed her Olympic set in style.
The 33-year-old, who won silver on debut in Rio and bronze in Tokyo, produced a dazzling display and sunk to her knees when it was revealed her routine had taken her to the summit.

Olympics 2024: Kayak cross – Joe Clarke fastest qualifier in new event
It’s a big Olympic hello to the kayak cross today, a new discipline for this Games and one that will be faintly familiar to regular Winter Olympics viewers. Yes, this is the aquatic version of the ski and snowboard events that always provide thrills and spills on the snow, with four boats on the water at once tomorrow.
Today, though, it’s simply a time trial to determine the heats, but there’s good news for Great Britain’s Joe Clarke, who tops the times having narrowly missed out on a K1 medal yesterday. Teammate Adam Burgess, already with a silver to take home from Paris, was down in 26th.

Olympics 2024: Windsurfing – Medal race pushed back
This is turning into the most dramatic Marseille-based saga since The French Connection. The men’s and women’s windsurfing / iQFOiL finals have been postponed until tomorrow with the Mistral again not playing ball on the Mediterranean coast. Emma Wilson’s shot at gold will have to wait – though the British windsurfer is already assured of a place on the podium:

Olympics 2024: Equestrian – Team jumping final
Harry Charles, Ben Maher and Scott Brash ride out to collect their gold medals for Great Britain, stepping onto the podium after three terrific performances in today’s final.

Olympics 2024: Golf – Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood and Xander Schauffele share lead
There is a familiar look to the top of the leaderboard at Le Golf National, the sport’s big hitters coming to the Olympic party. Defending champion Xander Schauffele has signed for a 66 and shares the lead at -11, with a flying Tommy Fleetwood and rock solid Hideki Matsuyama stomping though the back nine and hoping to surpass the Open winner. Jon Rahm is two shots back from the American, while the day’s big mover is Thomas Detry – his 63 is the low round to get him to -8, with the Belgian showing his scoring prowess on a relatively friendly Friday set-up.

Olympics 2024: Every Team GB medal in Paris so far
Three golds and counting, then, for Team GB on a fabulous Friday for the Brits. There are still plenty of medal contenders to come a little later, too, as we near the end of what is turning into an outstanding first week for Great Britain.
