The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a search-and-rescue mission Wednesday morning for a downed plane off the Channel Islands, officers stated.
Three individuals had been on board the Phoenix Leerjet when it crashed at about 7:55 a.m. one mile southwest of San Clemente Island, in response to Levi Learn, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson. Coast Guard officers arrived on the scene at about 8:55 a.m.
The Phoenix Leerjet was owned by Hearth Companions out of Delaware and wasn’t a navy aircraft, Learn stated.
The aim of the flight and the identities of the three individuals on board haven’t been confirmed.
It is a breaking information story and might be up to date.
